Privacy policy

Effective . Applies to the Klavette app and keyboard, and to this website.

The short version. Klavette records typing stats on your device only, and never from password, email, web address, phone-number or other sensitive fields. Nothing leaves your device unless you turn on uploads and tap Upload. Your AutoFill details and macros never leave the device. There are no ads, no tracking and no third-party SDKs.

1. Who we are

Klavette is made by Zachery Ng, an independent developer in Singapore ("we", "us"). We are the person responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at [email protected].

2. What the keyboard does with what you type

Klavette is a keyboard, so it sees the letters you tap in order to turn them into words. That work happens on your device. The keyboard does not send what you type to us or to anyone else.

To get better for you, the keyboard learns the words you use and the corrections you make. This learned list is stored on your device, in storage shared between the Klavette app and the keyboard. It is never uploaded by itself. You can see it, delete single words, or clear it all in the app's settings, under Suggestions & Learning.

The keyboard keeps out of the way in sensitive fields. In password fields, new-password fields, one-time code fields, card number, security code and card expiry fields, and any field that hides what you type, it offers no suggestions, learns nothing and records nothing.

3. Typing stats on your device

By default Klavette records typing stats on your device so that you can look at your own speed and accuracy in the app and so that the developer can measure how well the keyboard is working if you choose to share them (section 4).

4. Optional upload to the developer

You can choose to send your typing stats to the developer to help improve the keyboard. This is an explicit opt-in. It is off by default, and nothing is sent until you turn it on and tap Upload in the app. The upload screen lists what is included.

When you upload, the app sends:

It goes to private storage that we run on Cloudflare. The app can only add uploads. It cannot list or read anyone's uploads, and no one else with the app can either. Only the developer can read them. Like any internet request, an upload is handled by Cloudflare's network, which may process technical details such as your IP address to deliver it. We do not use your IP address to identify you, and our upload code does not store it with the upload.

We use uploads only to measure and improve the accuracy and speed of the keyboard. We do not sell them, share them with advertisers, or use them to build a profile of you. We do not try to work out who you are from a nickname, so please do not use your real name or anything that identifies you.

Uploads are filed under the nickname you choose, or as anonymous if you leave it empty. The nickname is optional and is the only thing that links an upload to you. It is also how a deletion request finds your uploads: we cannot match an anonymous upload to a person, so add a nickname if you might want to ask for yours to be deleted.

Each upload is kept for 12 months from the day it is uploaded and is then deleted automatically. You can ask us to delete your uploads sooner: email [email protected] with the nickname you used, and we will delete everything filed under it and confirm by email within 30 days. Because uploads are filed by nickname, we need the nickname to find yours; uploads filed as anonymous cannot be found or matched to you.

After a confirmed share, save or upload, the app asks whether to delete the exported records from your device. You can say no.

5. AutoFill details and macros

The name, emails, phone numbers, address and work details you save for AutoFill, and the text of your keyboard macros, are stored only on your device. Klavette never uploads them and never includes them in typing records, exports or uploads. Card numbers and passwords are never stored. The app's reset buttons do not erase them, so you remove them yourself from Settings, then Typing, then AutoFill.

If you use "Fill from a Contact", the details are copied through Apple's contact picker, which does not need Contacts permission.

6. Contacts

Suggesting names from your contacts is optional and off by default. When it is off, your contacts have no influence at all. When it is on, names are used on your device to suggest words as you type. They are not uploaded.

7. Full Access

iOS asks you to allow "Full Access" for a keyboard that shares information with its app. Full Access is recommended, not required. The full keyboard works without it. Allowing it lets your settings and learned words reach the keyboard and turns on Pro's Mini keyboard.

iOS warns that Full Access lets a keyboard use the network. Klavette does not use it to send what you type anywhere. The keyboard itself does not send anything over the network. The only data that leaves your device is an upload you start yourself from the app (section 4).

8. Purchases

Klavette Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment, the trial, renewals, cancellations and refunds, and its own privacy policy applies to that. We do not see or store your card or payment details, and Klavette has no accounts or sign-in. Apple tells the app whether Pro is active on your Apple Account so that the features unlock. Apple offer codes (gift and discount codes) are redeemed through Apple.

9. Website and the launch list

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and it loads no resources from other sites. Our host (Cloudflare) keeps ordinary server logs for security and reliability, which can include your IP address and the pages you request.

If you give us your email address in the launch list form, we use it only to send you one message when Klavette launches. We store it with our hosting provider, Cloudflare, and delete the list after that message is sent, or sooner if you ask. We do not share it or use it for anything else. To stop abuse of the form, we also keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for ten minutes, never next to your email, and then it expires on its own.

12. Deleting your data and your rights

13. Children

Klavette is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has uploaded data or joined the launch list, email us and we will delete it.

14. Security and where data is stored

Uploads are sent over an encrypted connection to private storage that cannot be listed or downloaded with the key that ships in the app. Typing stats and learned words are stored on your device under iOS's own protections. Cloudflare runs servers in many countries, so data you upload or submit may be processed outside the country where you live. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot promise otherwise.

15. Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and its effective date, and if the change affects uploads we will ask for your choice again in the app.
